Η Γεωργιούπολη είναι ένα αξιοθαύμαστο παραθεριστικό θέρετρο με μεγάλη ακτή λίγων χιλιομέτρων και ένα παρθένο λιμάνι για μικρά αλιευτικά σκάφη στη βόρεια όχθη της Κρήτης, ανάμεσα στις αστικές περιοχές των Χανίων και του Ρεθύμνου (35 χλμ. Από τα Χανιά, 25 χλμ. Από το Ρέθυμνο ).
Τα παλιά ευκάλυπτα και μια μικρή πλωτή οδό που διασχίζει τον ωκεανό, κάνει μια ενδιαφέρουσα και αξιόλογη κατάσταση (είναι ένα αδέσποτο καταφύγιο ζωής).
